(VELINO) Roma, 22 Jun - The Italian Ambassador to Mexico, Luigi Maccotta, travelled a few days ago on a mission to the State of Chiapas. The diplomat was welcomed by the Government Secretary, Juan Carlos Gomez Aranda, and by representatives of the Public Security and Tourism Secretariats. The Embassy's communique, uploaded on the website, says "During the meeting, [the Ambassador], along with the representative of the consulate Miriam Stival, explored the possible options for cooperation between Italy and Chiapas, in the economic, tourist and cultural sectors." The Hotel Villa Mercedes, in San Cristobal de las Casas, hosted Ambassador Maccotta's meeting with numerous members of the Italian community in Chiapas, invited by Miriam Stival and Claretta Gagna. Also there was the president of the municipality, Marco Antonio Cancino Gonzalez. In conjunction with the event, a meeting was held by the head of the Consular Chancellery, Paolo Epifani, to collect the fingerprints of the Italian nationals applying for, or requesting renewal of, a passport. vel
