(VELINO) Roma, 8 Mar - The Italian Cultural Institute in Lisbon is holding two lectures at the National Library of Portugal on March 9 at 7:30 pm. They form part of a series of lectures on paper and photograph conservation techniques. Barbara Cattaneo and Federcia Delia will give a lecture on: "Paper and photograph conservation between material culture and conservation principles". Luis Pavao wil focus on: "Digital reproduction and cold storage, trends in patterns of photograph conservation in Portugal". Barbara Cattaneo holds a degree in Cultural Heritage Science from the University of Florence and a diploma in Paper Conservation from the Region of Tuscany. She has been working at the conservation laboratory of the National Central Library of Florence since 1999, where she deals with preventive conservation, planning and designing of paper materials and photographs. Federica Delia is a restorer of archaeological, archive and book materials and has a degree in conservation and restoration from the University of Rome Tor Vergata. She specialises in conservation of photographs and has attended several professional courses in Italy and abroad promoted by institutions such as the Museo F.lli Alinari and the Getty Conservation Institute. She teaches conservation of historical photographs at the University of Rome, La Sapienza. She has an in-depth knowledge of oriental arts and has taken part in workshops on Japanese traditions in paper and silk conservation and the manufacture of several oriental papers in Europe and Asia. Luis Pavao has a degree in electro-technical Engineering at the Instituto Superior Te'cnico (1981). He has worked as a photographer since 1979. Pavao is the founder of LUPA (Luis Pavao Limitada), an institute which specialises in conserving and digitising photographic collections and is in charge of the conservation of the photographic collection at the Lisbon Municipal Archive. vel
