(VELINO) Roma, 26 Jul - The inaugural concert by the Orchestra of Peace of Bosnia-Herzegovina, which opened the Musica Riva Festival of Riva del Garda, Italy, was a great success. The orchestra was invited to perform as Resident Orchestra. The event was attended by the Festival's director and artistic advisor, Mietta Sighele and maestro Mauro Maur, the mayor of Riva del Garda, Adalberto Mosaner, and the Italian Ambassador in Sarajevo, Nicola Minasi, promotor and sponsor of the initiative. Present at the concert were also the Minister of Culture and Sport of Canton Sarajevo, Mirvad Kuric, who provided the buses that transported the young musicians to Italy, and the conductor of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Sarajevo, Samir Lokvancic, from which most of the young musicians originate. The opening remarks focused on the value of the initiative, which is not only artistic and cultural but also political and symbolic, as it arose from the cooperation between Bosnian authorities, the Italian Embassy and the Musica Riva Festival. The Orchestra of Peace is the first national orchestra of Bosnia-Herzegovina, comprising musicians from the orchestras and conservatories across the Country, especially those of Sarajevo, East Sarajevo, Mostar, Banja Luka, Tuzla, in addition to Belgrade, Novi Sad and Maribor. Ambassador Minasi expressed the wish that this experience strengthen the ties of friendship between young artists from different cities and Countries, highlighting the positive force that music can release. The wish was reaffirmed by Mayor Mosaner, who emphasised the initiative's political significance in promoting peace in a period that is crucial to the history of the European Union. vel
