Trieste - A memorandum of understanding was signed on July 31 in Astana, Kazakhstan, during the Friuli Venezia Giulia week in the Italian Pavilion of Expo 2017 Future Energy, between Bionet s.r.l. and Kazakh Invest to make one, or possibly more, anaerobic digestion waste treatment plants in Kazakhstan. The plant will produce compost for use in farming, biogas, liquid methane, electricity, thermal energy and vegetable charcoal. The layout of the new plant, designed in collaboration with Udine University, will follow that of a similar plant currently being built in Trieste for Net. The goal is to significantly improve energy efficiency along the entire waste collection and treatment chain, increasing the recovered energy quota while cutting management costs and reducing gas emissions and fossil fuel consumption. Attending the signing of the agreement were the Italian Ambassador in Astana, Stefano Ravagnan, the Deputy Minister for Investments and Development of Kazakhstan, Yerlan Khairov, the Deputy Chairman of Kazakh Invest, Nursultan Dzhiebayev, the Head of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region Delegation, Agostino Maio, and the President of Bionet, Norberto Zannini. The ceremony was sealed with the transcription of the protocol by Scriptorium Foroiuliense, the only Italian scribe calligraphy school which is based in Ragogna (Udine). The Kazakh operators chose state-of-the-art technology entirely developed by Bionet in collaboration with Udine University after a number of meetings with the Friuli Venezia Giulia delegation last April organized to prepare for the participation of the Region in the Astana Expo.
