Naples - The Ischia Global Film and Music Fest will launch an acting training programme during its 15th edition. The famous award winning Canadian director and scriptwriter Paul Haggis, who has been cooperating with the Ischia International Art Academy since the festival's inception, will hold an intensive six-day-course focused on "scene work" together with Michael Margiotta, a well-known acting coach. It will be the first such course to be held in Italy.
Mr Margiotta, a director, actor and a lifetime member of the Actor's Studio in New York and Los Angeles, is the founder and artistic director of the Actor's Center in Rome. He was a teacher at the Lee Strasberg Institute in New York City, the New York Film Academy and the Academy of Dramatic Arts. He sees his own "personal" method as a fusion between the Stanislavskij's and Strasberg's methods combined with his own research in the field of psychology. As an actor, he was nominated for an Emmy Award. Each of the students that will attend the course, scheduled to take place from July 10 to July 16, will have to work on scenes featuring two or more characters taken from major international films.
They will develop their own character with the help of Mr Margiotta and act out their scenes before Paul Haggis, who will monitor their progress on a daily basis. The Ischia Global Film and Music Fest is sponsored by the Ischia International Art Academy, with the support of the General Directorate for Cinema of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage (MIBACT).
