Amsterdam - The Sestetto Stradivari from the Accademia di Santa Cecilia, performed at the Italian Cultural Institute in Amsterdam. The event will feature violinists David Romano and Marlene Prodigo, Raffaele Mallozzi and David Bursack at the violas, cellists Diego Romano and Sara Gentile. The musical programme included Richard Strauss, sextet for strings from Capriccio op.85, and Petr Illic Tchaikovsky, Souvenir de Florence op. 70. The sextet was made up by musicians from the Orchestra of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome.
It was created in December 2001 on the occasion of concerts organised within the framework of the International Exhibition 'L'arte del violino', held in Rome's Castel Sant' Angelo. The harmony, cohesion and passion have transformed an occasional encounter into a broader project which now sees the sextet performing in concerts for the major national and international concert institutions.
The sextet participated in several editions of the 'Notte Bianca' and 'Notte dei Musei' in Rome, at the Festival 2010 and in the I Suoni delle Dolomiti, the Chamber Music Season of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. They have also been very successful in more recent concerts held in Milan and Casal Monferrato at the Festival MiTo, the opening of Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, and during the Settimane Senesi of the Accademia Chigiana.
