Florence - The 2017 edition of the 'Gelato Festival', an international event, will kick off on Friday, 21 April in Florence. The organisers have already announced the schedule of the European tour. The festival will, in fact, travel from Italy to the United Kingdom, Poland and Germany. It aims to enhance Made in Italy production and bring artisanal ice-cream making to the most beautiful main squares of many cities in the world, thus disseminating an Italian culture which began in Florence in 1559 from the ingeniousness of an architect, Bernardo Buontalenti.
The festival will include over 100 gelato makers. Opening tomorrow, the 'Gelato Festival' will be hosted in Florence's Piazzale Michelangelo until 25 April. It will then travel to Rome (Terrazza del Pincio, 29 April-1 May), Turin (Piazza Solferino 25-28 May), Milan (Piazza Castello, 1-4 June, London (Old Spitalfields Market, 16-18 June), Warsaw (near Torwar, 22-25 June), and Homburg (Spielbudenplatz, 28 - 30 July).
The finals and the awarding ceremony, which gives an award to the best European flavour, have been scheduled to take place in Florence, at Piazzale Michelangelo, from 14 to 17 September.
