Caltanissetta - The 10th edition of the Agon Eschileo competition, an Ancient Greek language contest culminating in an awards ceremony, will be hosted by the city of Gela from March 28 to April 1. Thirty students coming from all the Italian regions will be hosted by the families of students attending Gela's Humanities High School 'Eschilo', who will not be included in the competition. Students participating will come from Locri, Urbino, Bitonto, Grosseto, Crema, Milano, Canicatti, Adrano, Milazzo, Agrigento, Bronte and Enna.
This initiative, sponsored by ENI, was presented during a press conference organised by the school principal, Gioacchino Pellitteri. "ENI in its Gela-based plants hosts 400 students from several local high-schools, within the framework of the School & Work initiative, which includes first-level apprenticeship contracts. This is an example of ENI's connection with the community."
The Agon Eschileo competition was established in 1993 as a response by the schools during a time in which the city of Gela was involved in Mafia wars.
