Rome - Apulian typical wine & food products of excellence were showcased in Prague at an event hosted by the Italian Embassy and addressed to the Czech entrepreneurial community. The event, organised by the Italo-Czech Chamber of Commerce (CAMIC), was attended by the Italian Ambassador, Aldo Amati, the President of CAMIC, Gianfranco Pinciroli, the Councillor for Agricultural Policies of the Apulia region, Leonardo Di Gioia, and members of Unioncamere. Among the distinguished guests were also the Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce, Jiri Koliba, and the Director of the Food Production and Legislation Department, Jindich Fialka.
"We are very pleased that local entrepreneurs have taken great interest in the excellent products offered by the Region and we are particularly glad to have given our contribution to the organisation of the event," said Ambassador Amati. He pointed out that the Czech Republic has long been a very important market for Italy, with trade volumes hitting a new record figure in 2016, while Italian exports have been growing for quite some years now. "We are determined to increase the presence of our products abroad. Even more so we would like to promote the experience of these products and the knowledge about their peculiarities that make them stand out at an international level," commented the Secretary General of Camic, Matteo Mariani.
"To this end, our Chamber of Commerce is pressing ahead with the promotion of Italian products abroad." Moreover CAMIC presented four training courses that formed part of the "Puglia Experience" project, with a view to boosting the quality standard of Italian restaurants through knowledge of local products. A system certifying "Italian Hospitality" was also presented during the event. It guarantees a quality control and origin of the products offered in Italian restaurants in Prague (now 23). A tasting of top-quality products concluded the event, including: different outstanding wines such as Negramaro, Nero di Troia and Primitivo, Altamura bread, 'burrata', caciocavallo cheese and olive oil, of which Apulia holds 35% of the entire national production. .
