Leonardo signs agreement on cyber security in UAE

Rome - Leonardo and the International Golden Group PJSC (IGG), a company operating in the defence industry in Abu Dhabi, signed a strategic cooperation agreement to sell cyber security products in the area on the occasion of the four-day International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX), in Abu Dhabi (Feb. 19-23, 2017).

Leonardo and IGG will cooperate on the design and development of advanced solutions and Security Operations Centres - SOCs. The teaming agreement is meant to integrate IGG solutions and market knowledge with Leonardo's state-of-the-art know-how by means of a long-term international strategic partnership. IGG, which is already providing national customers with high level security solutions, will be the prime contractor. Recently cyber security has become the focus of the UAE's development agenda, with a view to identifying authoritative partners with whom to develop cutting-edge solutions and infrastructure.

Leonardo's skills well serve such a requirement by providing state-of-the-art solutions and the capability of building services in real time to monitor and manage IT infrastructure. This will allow customers to prevent, identify and counter sophisticated and persistent cyber threats, protecting an organization's most crucial assets - data and information. Leonardo has been providing the Gulf countries with services in the fields of IT systems and cyber security since the 90s, ever since it started cooperating with one of the most important Saudi banks, the Al Rajhi Bank, supporting its digitalisation in full respect of the rules of Islamic finance.

A cooperation which continues to this day providing area security systems (eg to manage and control civilian and military air traffic from Doha Hamad airport) and TLC and security systems for the UAE railways and for the subway in Riyadh. IGG is one of the largest UAE companies operating in the defence and security sector. As a partner of the Armed Forces, the Ministry of the Interior and of other national security agencies, IGG provides advanced technology and solutions thanks to its own skills in integrating systems and to a well-established experience in product development.
