(AGI) Rome, May 31 - Europe's youth orchestra has been saved by a proposal from Italy. Minister of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism, Dario Franceschini, said after an EU cultural ministers' meeting on Tuesday: "The European Commission has accepted Italy's proposal to save the European Union Youth Orchestra, founded by Maestro Abbado." The commission agreed the Italian government's proposal to stabilise funds for the orchestra. "The orchestra is a symbol of European integration: with its 160 members it's a strongpoint of the musical history of a united Europe," said the minister. (AGI). .
