Pope Francis will go to Romania in 2018

Vatican City - Mgr. Miguel Maury Buen Dia, Apostolic Nuncio, officially announced in a press communique released by the Romanian Episcopal Conference, that "His Holiness Pope Francis wishes to visit Romania. It will be a visit in the sign of unity."

Pope Francis was officially invited to Romania by the Romanian Bishops and also by Romania's president, Klaus Johannis. The Romanian Orthodox Church welcomed the news. It is likely that His Holiness will participate in the ceremony for the beatification of the seven Greek Catholic bishops martyred under the Communist regime, whose cause for the beatification the Holy See still has to decide on.
