Brussels - The Italian Cultural Institute in Brussels will host Amalia Ercoli Finzi, the first woman to achieve a degree in aerospace engineering in Italy. The scientist will deliver an address on April 19 to discuss the major phases of the first artificial satellite's launching, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary in October.
These undertakings in space have culminated with Mission Rosetta, one of the most extraordinary endeavours of Italian science and technology. The event will tackle fascinating subjects such as space and time, the theory of everything, quantum theory, and artificial intelligence. Amalia Ercoli Finzi has been working on the design of space missions for the past 25 years, and is currently a professor at Milan's Polytechnic.
She has been a consultant for the Italian Space Agency, the European Space Agency and NASA, contributing to the construction of satellites and probes for planetary exploration. She will be accompanied by Francesco Forte, head of coordination at the Italian Permanent Representation to the European Union.
