Seoul - The project, "What Education for Mars?", designed by Valerio Orlando, will be featured in the collective exhibition "Lesson 0", which opens on Friday at Gallery 2 of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Gwacheon, South Korea.
Mr Orlando's initiative seeks to experiment with an alternative model for the conveyance of knowledge and relations in international art schools. "What Education for Mars?" questions the current schooling system through the realtionships between students and teachers. In 2011, he conducted a series of workshops in some high schools in Rome, producing a video installation made up of portraits, interviews and conversations between students imagining better schools.
In 2012, this work was pitched at the 11th Biennial at Havana. Mr Orlando also worked on another production at ISA, the University of Arts of Cuba. In 2013, the third chapter of the series was produced in India at the Bangalore Valley School, in cooperation with the Krishnamurti Foundation.
