New Delhi - Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation with the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism, Triennale di Milano, Associazione per il Disegno industriale, Fondazione Compasso d'Oro, Milan's Salone del Mobile and ICE, the Italian Trade Agency, organised the first Italian Design Day on 2nd of March 2017 in New Delhi. In 100 locations around the world, 100 "ambassadors" of Italian culture (designers, entrepreneurs, journalists, critics, communicators) will illustrate the concept of excellence.
The Italian Ambassador in India, Lorenzo Angeloni said, "We are very thrilled for the fact that New Delhi has been selected by the organisers to present the TRIENNALE exhibition "Under 35. Italian Design" on the occasion of first Italian Design Day: on 2nd March we will also unveil the short-film "Delightful", created by Master director Matteo Garrone for the upcoming 56th edition of the Salone del Mobile (4-9 April 2017). It is a world premiere, a sign of attention to the Indian growing interest for Italian Design". He further said, "In the past years we registered a booming participation of Indian buyers at Salone di Milano: with the Italian Design Day we aim at strengthening these positive trends and attract young and talented indian designers. Creativity and projects triggered in Italy create a universal language". The UNDER 35 exhibition, an overview on contemporary Italian design through 100 works by 27 Under 35 Italian designers, curated by Triennale Design Museum Director Silvana Annicchiarico on a concept by Architects Raffaella Mangiarotti and Marco Ferreri is sponsored by ITA Italian Trade Commission in Delhi.
Italian Trade Commissioner, Francesco Pensabene said,"After the success of the Italian Pavilion at India Design 2017, we are excited to showcase the best pieces of UNDER 35. ITALIAN DESIGN. This year Italian design reached a fabulous exposition in India; from culture to industry, from science to philosophy, design represents today a pillar of "living Italian style" and a powerful engine for the Italian economy".
Architect Ferreri will present the exhibition "Under 35. Italian Design": as Design Ambassador, he will bring back to Italy elements of excellence from India (handicrafts, technological innovations, construction techniques, materials) so as to share them and evaluate any possible contamination.
