Italian young talents feature jewelry design in Prague

Prague - The Italian Cultural Institute in Prague presented the winners of the 2016 edition of the 'Jewelry New Design' project. The initiative stems from 'New Design', a project launched by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research which seeks to give young talents the opportunity of expressing their creativity.

Over 80 Italian art high-schools participated in the project which, in 2016, focused on jewelry making. 'New Design' is celebrating its 7th edition and boasts features such as an alternative opportunity to school curricula and a new way of merging school education and research, drawing inspiration from the traditional Italian creativity and ingeniousness. This year the competition has expanded its horizons.

Following the presentation in the scenic Arsenale di Venezia, it landed in Prague, the very heart of Europe. The event was attended by the Ministry's top officials including Edvige Mastantuono, Francesco Branca, Caterina Spezzano, Rocco Fiano, Achille Valenti, and professor Francesca Borghero. Representatives from the schools that have been awarded the prize include: art high-schools "A. Vittoria" and "F. Depero" from Trento-Rovereto with professor Mariagrazia Brunelli and students Roberto Piffer and Silvia Florenzano; Padua's "Selvatico" art high-school with professor Maria Rosa Franzin and students Alice Biolo and Andrea Gambato; and Valenza's "Cellini" with professor Patrizia Grugni and students Pietro Boz and Matteo Pugliese.

During the mission to Prague, the members of the Italian delegation have exchanged views with their Czech colleagues and exhibited the project, seeking to promote possible future partnerships. The exhibition has been organised in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, University and Research and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. (AGI).
