Tunis - A singer and a composer, the Sicilian artist Etta Scollo will perform in a concert for voice and guitar "Lunaria- Nella gioia luminosa dell'inganno" [Lunaria- in the bright joy of deception] on Tuesday, 21 Feb., in Tunis. Scollo will be accompanied by Tunisian percussionist, Brahim Bahloul. The theme will be performed during the 3rd International Mediterranean Studies Conference on "Sicily, Island Status and Mediterranean Identities", to take place in Tunis from 20 to 22 February. Etta Scollo designed her 'Lunaria' project working on texts drawn from Vincenzo Consolo's theatre fable which bears the same name.
The fable, whose author has recently passed away, is set in a fantasy-Sicily, contemplated through the lens of a kaleidoscope which combines all the different nuances of Mediterranean Baroque. The island's Viceroy is the main character of the story, with a melancholy and lunar pesonality. One night this unusual sovereign dreams of watching the Moon fall. It could be just a nightmare, but it is actually a foreboding. The Moon happened to fall in a village of the Viceroyalty, which was so removed that it was not even recorded on a map. The concert is organised by the Italian Cultural Institute in Tunis and will be hosted by the Maison des Arts de Tunis. (AGI) .
