Rome – Italy’s Council of Ministers on Thursday approved the establishment of an Italian embassy in Mongolia’s capital, Ulaanbaatar. The decision, made following a proposal by Italian foreign minister Paolo Gentiloni, owes much to the recent positive trend in Italy’s relations with Mongolia: its significant potential for trade; the deep reciprocal interest in strengthening cultural ties; and Mongolia’s growing role on both the regional stage and in terms of EU-Asia relations. Italy is one of Mongolia’s principal economic partners. The Italian-Mongolian Chamber of Commerce was founded in 2002. (AGI)
