(AGI) Maputo, Dec 16 - Afonso Dhlakama, the leader of Mozambique's Renamo opposition party, said that they were not at war and that Renamo fighters would neither attack gasducts nor sabotage power lines. He spoke by telephone in a video conference in Maputo for the first time since he was reported missing from Beira. In a statement issued last November, Renamo's leader said he had no intention to wage war on the ruling Frelimo party, though he claimed to have won the elections. Mr. Dhlakama also added: "I have troops in the south, but I promise that the railway connecting the port of Maputo to South Africa and Swaziland will not be attacked or sabotaged." He went on to say that he was attacked twice and made the announcement that he will rule the country's northern part by April, but planned to do so respecting the central government and all its institutions. Renamo topped the October 2014 vote in the provinces of Nampula, Sofala, Manica, Tete, Zambezia, Niassa and Cabo Delgado. (AGI) . .
