(AGI) Maputo, Nov 20 - The immediate disarmament of oppositionmovement Renamo has been ordered by Mozambique President FilipeNyusi. The decision came after talks were suspended between thegovernment and the movement. Renamo leader Alfonso Dhlakama hadnot taken part for more than 40 days. Relations between thegovernment and the group collapsed on Oct. 18 when policeentered his home, seized members of his bodyguard and toldRenamo to hand over its weapons. This show of force provoked awave of indignation across the country, with thousands fleeingtheir homes in the movement's main strongholds in the provincesof Zambezia, Tete, Sofala and Manica. "Our decision is dictatedby the desire to promote dialogue in a spirit of mutualrespect," said President Nyusi. He said he was willing tocooperate and open negotiations with Renamo at any time.. .
