(AGI) Beijing, Dec 2 - Italy's former manager and playerMarcello Lippi has launched a Chinese-language edition of hisautobiography "Il gioco delle idee: pensieri e passioni a bordocampo". It is nearly a year since he retired as manager ofGuangzhou Evergrande Taobao Football Club, notching up threeChinese championships and an Asian Champions League. As well asmanaging the Italian national side, he worked as a coach at theItalian Embassy in Beijing. He told an audience of fans inBeijing about his philosophy on football. "None of us is asstrong as all of us," he said. This was a feeling shared byItaly's Ambassador to China Ettore Francesco Sequi, whostressed the importance of Italy knowing how to tacklechallenges, with tenacity, ambition, a strong sense of unityand belonging. Lippi said he was ready to return to coaching."I would go back, if a team came forward. I would sit down anddiscuss it with them. It doesn't necessarily have to be a teamwith the potential to win. Winning another Scudetto, or sevenor eight, wouldn't really make much difference. What counts isthe love of football." However he is not thinking of going backto China. "No, otherwise I would have stayed put, because itwas the best team of all." Despite his coaching success, hesaid that Chinese football was not ready to achieve majorresults: "A team cannot become world champion until a nationalmentality is forged and the habit of practising the sportinstilled. Schools need football and youth sectors are in needof a boost. There is also a need for talented instructors." TheChinese edition of the autobiography was published by Yilin, after the original published by Editrice San Raffaele in 2008.(AGI). .
