Important masterpieces stolen from gallery in Verona
(AGI) Venice, Nov. 20 - Masterpieces by Rubens and Tintorettowere among 15 artworks stolen to order by masked robbers from amuseum in Verona. Three men dressed in black entered theCastelvecchio museum, tying up and gagging the site's securityofficer and a cashier before taking the paintings. Their haulincluded The Madonna of the Quail by Pisanello, Portrait of aChild with a Drawing by Giovanni Caroto, St. Jerome in theDesert by Jacopo Bellini and works of Tintoretto, Mantegna andPeter Paul Rubens.
