(AGI) Ottawa, Nov 30 - The Italian Ambassador to Canada, GianLorenzo Cornado, visited the Fiat-Chrysler (FCA) plant inWindsor, Ontario. He was received by the vice president of FCACanada, Lori Shalhoub, and by the plant manager, MichaelBrieda. Ambassaor Cornado said that the FCA group represents anextraordinary success story in the crucial automotive economicsector, not only in Canada and the United States but alsoworldwide. The plant was built in 1928 and employs 5,000people. It has a daily production of 1,500 Dodge Grand Caravanand Chrysler Town & Country models. The plant is endowed withhighly automated processes including over 1,300 robots engagedin assembly and painting processess. The plant was awarded theWorld Class Manufacturing silver medal in March 2014 for theknow-how and competence of its production model. FCA Canadacelebrated its 90th anniversary this year and, thanks to itsassembly plants, an aluminum component plant in Etobicoke,Ontario, a R&D centre in Windsor, more than 440 dealerships,sales offices and spare part distribution centres throughoutthe country, it represents one of Canada's major economicdrivers.
