Florence - Robots serving humans: carrying out the most strenuous tasks in their place, carefully and safely operating the human body, improving the quality of life of people with disabilities, helping to bridge the gap between the north and south of the world, and discovering unexpected forms of art. Robotics in all its aspects, summed up in the very origin of this Slavic word meaning "forced labor, servitude'' (for the exclusive benefit of man), will be the star of the first international festival to be held in Pisa, Italy, from September 7 to 13, 2017.
Pisa has one of the world's highest concentrations of professionals in the industry and of activities involving the research, development and application of robotic systems. This city of science has put up a united front to ensure a successful first edition of the International Robotics Festival, promoted by Fondazione Arpa, the BioRobotics Institute of the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies, the Research Center "E.Piaggio" of the University of Pisa, and the Municipality of Pisa.
The scientific co-promoters include the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies, the University of Pisa, the Scuola Normale Superiore, the National Research Council, Irccs Stella Maris, and the EndoCAS Center of Excellence of the University of Pisa. Seminars, conferences, demonstrations, exhibitions, artistic performances and educational workshops for students (starting from elementary schools) will be organized to offer a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of research, production and applications in the field of robotics, which lives up to its mission of serving mankind.
