Tirana - A story is developing between Italy and Albania, with the launching of the "La porta magica del libro" event in Tirana on 27 June. The event highlights 40 selected titles of Italian literature and their Albanian translation from the early 20th century to the present day. The texts were selected by a group of students attending the Master Course in Intercultural Communication and Tourism and the Master Course in Translation and Interpretation of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, under the guidance of Professor Viola Adhami.
The students collected information on the books, critiques and interviews, the opinions of publishers and artists who worked on book covers, the photos of those book covers, along with the famous quotations and reflections on the importance of reading and books. The event, organised by the Dante Alighieri Committee in conjuction with the Faculty of Foreign Languages of Tirana, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute, will also include a contest for the best cover for Luigi Pirandello's 'L'esclusa' [The Excluded Woman] on the 150th anniversary of the writer's birth.
