Copenhagen - The Italian Cultural Institute in Copenhagen will host an event on the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of Italy's Liberation dedicated to the music of Italy's Resistance and to a Danish protagonist of that time, Arnt Paul Lauritzen.
A Catholic priest, Mr Lauritzen, fought between 1944 and 1945 under the name of Paolo il Danese [Paul the Dane] in the countryside aroud Patma for a partisan brigade. He is the main subject of Thomas Harder's book "Paolo il Danese, un prete partigiano" [Paul the Dane, a partisan priest], which will make its debut on 27 April.
The book presentation will be followed by the concert titled "1000 Red Poppies" with songs evoking the war and the Resistance. It will feature the Raimondo Meli Lupi Quartet, featuring a jazz musician descended from the Vigatto family of Parma, where Paul the Dane arrived as a tutor. The quartet will be accompanied by singer Silvia Piccoli.
