(AGI) Agrigento, Sept 12 - An exceptional discovery was announced in Agrigento. The ancient Greek theatre of Akragas has been found in Sicily's Valley of Temples after centuries of searching. Lillo Firetto, Agrigento's mayor, broke the news on Monday in the presence of Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, who was in Agrigento's Valley of Temples for the signing of the so-called "Patto per la Sicilia", a governmental investment agreement with the Region of Sicily. The theatre is located opposite the Temple of Concordia in a straight line. "A far more advanced excavation campaign will begin in October, and we expect to have the national government's support," Mr Firetto said. "It's the best way to properly celebrate the founding of Akragas 2600 years ago." (AGI). .
