(AGI) Rome, Nov 20 - Ravenna School of Law is holding aninternational conference called "Transparency vs.Confidentiality in International Economic Law: Looking for anAppropriate Balance". It considers the most sensitive sectorsof the economic and political agenda and international law,particularly on transparency in negotiations and agreements onliberalising trade and investment. The conference, organised byElisa Baroncini, professor of international law at the Ravennacampus of the University of Bologna, is backed by the ForeignMinistry. It is held under the mutual academic cooperation thatthe Legal Affairs Service of the Foreign Ministry promotes withItalian centres of academic excellence. Attila Tanzi,Scientific Director of an agreement between the Department ofLegal Studies and the ministry will attend with MinisterPlenipotentiary Andrea Tiriticco, head of the diplomaticservice, accompanied by Paolo Tonini. About 30 experts from Europe will take part, with colleagues from the United States,Canada, Hong Kong, China and Taiwan. The conference aims tostudy transparency in handling international issues: to findhow to influence major international negotiations now underway, including the Transatlantic Trade and InvestmentPartnership between the U.S. and the EU, which is crucial toeffectively plan and carry out business abroad.
